Meet The Committee!

Chairperson - Tanya Alexander

I moved up to Scotland five years ago and, not knowing many people,  I thought it would be a good idea to join Strathendrick Riding Club as a way to meet, and hopefully make a few friends! A few years down the road, I have met some wonderful people and made some firm friends.

In my riding career I have competed in Show Jumping, Showing and, latterly, Dressage. I competed up to Inter 1 and was trained by Emile Faurie. My best placing in Dressage was at the Nationals, where I came 5th in the Medium with my ex heavyweight show hunter winner Enniskean.  As some of you already know, I'm a judge on the Sport Horse Panel.

The object of my four legged love, is called Bond (Vagabond is his Sunday name!)  He is home bred, by Darco, out of a grade A mare I used to jump. Bond is really bred to jump but by the time he was broken I had given up jumping and moved over to dressage, so Bond spent a few years in France jumping with friends. Bond and I like to potter about the place these days, and when we are feeling quite energetic we like to attend the odd lesson here and there.

I look very much forward to catching up with you soon at one of our events!

Team Secretary - Katie Goldie

I am Katie Goldie the current team secretary and general helper. My organisational skills can be a bit wayward -so all I can say is I will do my best!
We bought my horse, Tipperary Chester, for my daughter when he was 4 or 5 ( no one is really sure) He was broken in Tipperary and shipped to Chester, where on the advice of someone who knew a lot more than me, we saw him and bought him green. ( That was us and him !) My daughter brought him on slowly and is a very sympathetic rider so she had to deal with the odd silliness.

In the summer of 2008 she left home and I decided, having been the support mother for years, that I would take up riding again. I had ridden as a teenager but had never competed in any discipline.

My first cross country was the adult novice at Gleneagles in 2008. I have been fortunate in having a wonderfully forgiving and reliable horse which has helped my confidence no end. My biggest achievement was last October when I did the pick a fence at Tyningham and only bottled out of two of the larger fences.

I love being in the riding club as you can enjoy it at all levels and there is endless support when things go pear shaped.

Website Administrator - Morag White

Having been a member of the club for a long time, I joined the committee last year and am the person responsible for updating the website.

I can't remember a time when I have not been fascinated by horses and they have given me a lot of pleasure ( as well as a little pain!) over the years. In the past I have competed at Riding Club level (mainly show jumping and showing) and also dabbled in Western Riding.

My horse is Tosca, a 10 year old three quarter bred American Quarter Horse mare. I've had her since she was a three year old - she is quite a character and thinks that I am now fairly well trained! I live in hope that she will stay injury free long enough to achieve the same status! We enjoy hacking out and admiring the glorious scenery.

Please make good use of the website and remember all contributions are very welcome.

Constructive feedback / ideas also appreciated.

Assistant Team Admin - Marcia Carberry
Hi I'm Marcia Carberry and my job on the committee is Training Officer plus anything else I can help with. I joined the committee last year.
I have been involved with horses just about all my life but these days I'm not as bold or invincible as I thought I used to be!! But I still like to try things and if it goes pear shaped, maybe next time I'll give it a miss....
My horse is Charlie who is a 16.3hh Shire x TB - he's 10yrs and I've had him for 6yrs. He's as honest as the day is long and it's just as well as he's always getting us out of trouble !! I mostly do showing and dressage and when I feel life is a bit boring and dull we do the mad jumping thing!!!
This riding club is great for all levels as it's a right mixed bunch that make up its members.

Hi, I’m Linda and have been recently elected as a new committee member of SRC this year. I like to have a go at most things but its all a bit of a hit and a miss as my special four-legged friend has a mind all of his own and sometimes even he is not quite in touch with it!! That aside, Harvey is a 9yo, 16.2hh Clydesdale x who was bred in Caithness (I went to visit a friend and came back with a foal!). He is brilliant and I would never part with him irrespective of his ‘special’ qualities! Please get in touch if you need any help with any aspect of the club, and if I can’t assist I will find someone who can, hope to hear from you!
